In addition to living and working in India, I lived and taught in rural Japan on the JET Program, from August 2004-July 2007. Before arriving in Japan I got my TEFL Certification from ITC-Training in Prague.
I've also trekked in the Himalayas, traveled on the Trans-Siberian, rafted down the Zambezi, camped with elephants in Namib desert, and have looked down on Iguazu Falls. What's next? I plan to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and re-learn Spanish while in Peru trekking to Machu Pichu.
This is a running dictation activity. A conversation between two people asking for directions was cut up and taped around the room. The students had to get up, read each one, and report back to their partner. The partner had to write it down, accuracy was important. After they had the conversation written down, they had to order it. When they finished, points were taken away from their score for mistakes both for the order and the accuracy. In the end, about 1/2 got the order right with some mistakes and 1/2 has very few mistakes but the order was off! A busy lesson with several "ahh-hah" moments at the end!
Gandhian Philosophy
“I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.”"Real education has to draw out the best from the boys and girls to be educated. This can never be done by packing ill-assorted and unwanted information into the heads of the pupils. It becomes a dead weight crushing all originality in them and turning them into mere automata."
